Overview of the Company:
AFO Capital, Ltd. (“AFO”) is the family office for a Fort Worth-based family which was founded in 2007 when the family’s business was sold. The office is responsible for providing investment management, wealth management and other related services to the members of the family, their various investment partnerships and trusts, their private trust company, and their private foundation. Some of the key functions of the office include: investment and portfolio management; accounting, record keeping and financial reporting; trust administration; coordination of tax planning and trust and estate planning; and coordination of charitable activities.
AFO’s investment and portfolio management program consists of: (1) allocations to outside investment managers focused on fixed income, global equities, absolute return strategies, and private equity and venture capital funds; (2) direct investments in real estate; (3) selective direct investments in private companies and other private market opportunities, primarily through co-investments; and (4) tactical allocation decisions at the asset class and investment level.
Overview of the Position:
AFO is seeking a highly analytical, systems-oriented professional to have primary ownership over investment operations including data integrity, reporting outputs, and systems infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of data infrastructure, reporting/analytics, and investment operations, owning the full lifecycle from data ingestion to decision-ready outputs. The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about operations, data, infrastructure, systems, and process design and has sufficient familiarity with investments and accounting to operate effectively within a complex investment ecosystem. This is a full-time position supporting the Investment Team as they implement the investment program, but also requires working collaboratively with accounting, IT, and legal roles within the office. This is an in-person position in Fort Worth, Texas.
Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Integrity -
- Own and maintain the firm’s investment data across investment management systems (e.g. MSCI/Total Plan Manager, Tamale, etc.), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data
- Validate and monitor portfolio and investment data (exposures, transactions, market values, etc.) across investment management systems
- Maintain mapping of data from the accounting system to the investment management systems; partner with accounting as needed to ensure alignment and integrity
- Maintain and enhance transparency data within investment management systems
Reporting & Analytics -
- Design, build, and maintain reporting and analytics infrastructure (performance, exposure, liquidity, and ad hoc analytics)
- Develop and enhance reporting frameworks, dashboards, and decision-support tools to support performance measurement and analytics across systems
- Produce and deliver accurate and timely portfolio and investment reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually) for the Investment Team, the Investment Committee, and other stakeholders
Systems, Infrastructure & Process Design -
- Design and enhance scalable processes and workflows, driving automation and efficiency across the platform
- Create and maintain process documentation, operational due diligence playbooks, and document/knowledge management systems
Cross-Functional Coordination & Operations -
- Serve as a bridge across teams for all investment data and reporting input and accuracy
- Support cross-functional initiatives and investment operations, including operational due diligence for new and existing investments
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Support -
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across data, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Ensure data and systems support compliance, governance, and reporting requirements across stakeholders
- Evolve data, reporting, and analytics capabilities to meet changing business needs and strengthen operational resilience
This role is:
- Not an investment role and will not evolve into one
- Not responsible for accounting execution or financial reporting
- Not a legal role
- Not purely technical/engineering/IT, but is highly systems-oriented
Education and Experience Qualifications:
Required –
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in investment operations, data, analytics, or a related field
- Strong understanding of investment concepts across public and private markets and working knowledge of accounting and reporting frameworks
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong understanding of data structures, workflows, and system integrations
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and scale reporting, systems, processes, and data infrastructure
- Ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions across workflows
- Exceptional attention to detail, high ownership mentality, and commitment to data integrity
Preferred –
- Experience within a family office, endowment, foundation, or institutional investment platform
- Experience with or interest in leveraging AI and automation tools to enhance data analysis and streamline operations
- Background in investment operations, computer science, data science, or a related field
- Experience with investment systems (e.g., MSCI/Total Plan Manager, Tamale, Bloomberg) and/or industry data tools
- Potential certifications in data analytics, process improvement, or project management
