About the Role:
AFM Family & Internal Medicine is looking for a friendly and organized Medical Front Desk Associate to be the welcoming face of our practice in Fairfax, VA. Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using medical scheduling software
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect co-pays at time of service
- Accurately enter and update patient demographics and medical records in the EHR system
- Answer and route incoming phone calls, take messages, and respond to patient inquiries
- Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and communication between patients and clinical staff
- Maintain a clean, organized, and HIPAA-compliant front desk environment
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a medical front desk, healthcare administrative, or patient services role preferred
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software
- Knowledge of medical insurance verification and co-pay collection processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first attitude
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office certification a plus
