In this role, the Utility Operator will be qualified to operate all production lines in their assigned area. Responsibilities
- Assess daily production schedules and plan to ensure uninterrupted flow as well as fulfillment of customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate the day-to-day activities of team members.
- Ensure WIP, tooling, and other needed items are staged for the next run at each line.
- Provide the necessary support, training, and troubleshooting to ensure an effective team.
- Cover for unplanned operator absences.
- Develop training documents and facilitate training; assist in trouble shooting issues.
- Troubleshoot and intervene as needed to address and resolve disruptions as quickly as possible in order to maintain product flow.
- Establish appropriate channels of feedback to inform upstream departments of defects.
- Review/update completed nonconforming reports for accuracy and publish KPI metrics as assigned daily.
- Lead and/or participate in improvements activities
- Responsible for 5s activities for assigned area.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback to Manager.
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Understanding of manufacturing safety standards
- Previous manufacturing / quality related experience in the cable industry preferred.
- Oracle, QTS, and ETQ system knowledge preferred.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word and Excel.
- Basic understanding of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) management systems to include general safety rules, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, behavioral based safety, incident reporting requirements, and environmental regulations
- Practical Understanding of EHS and quality systems
- Factory manufacturing environment assigned to either a night or dayshift working a 3-2-2 shift schedule. The work includes frequent lifting, walking, and standing.
