The Field Engineer – Energyis responsible forprovidingcustomer technical support for all AFLelectrical power systemsproducts into theutility and telecom markets. Supports the commercialteamefforts by providing product installationexpertise, building customer relationships, and providing technical support fortroubleshooting and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Support customer projects through on-site support for installationtraining, fieldfailure investigations, on-site supervision, or direct installation support.
  • Providehands-onproducttraining and installation supportto customers.
  • Assistcustomers with product installation questions.
  • Providesupport to further develop installation and training documentation forproducts.
  • Assistwith new product developmentbyprovidinginstallation insight.
  • Supports the development of application notes, instruction manuals,and application videos for products,installationproceduresand applications.
  • Interact with product managers, applicationengineers,salesteam,and customerservice representatives asrequired.
  • Travel to customer sites and train end usersonproper installation techniques.
  • Develop and/or update procedures and documentation forhis/herarea as applicable.
  • Follow, know, promote, and demand the fulfillment of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy, rules, procedures, and operative controls tomaintainand improve our performance on these matters.
  • Identifyclient’s requirements on sustainability needs from our products.
  • Inform EHS departmentforany requirements from clients thatinvolvenew materials or processes changes toidentifyenvironmental, health and safety impacts.

Qualifications

  • (Required)Advanced Installation knowledge ofelectrical distribution and transmissionproducts.
  • (Required)5 years of experience intheelectric utility fieldwitha solid understanding of the electric utilityindustry.
  • (Required)Hands-onfieldexperiencein electric utilityline work inthedistribution,transmissionand/or substation environments.
  • (Required)Demonstrated understanding of transmission, substation, and/ordistributionconstruction & maintenance applications.
  • (Required) strong writing skills for training content development and customer communication.Strong verbal skills for effective internal and customer communication.
  • (Required)Willing and able to conduct customertrainings, high voltage product demonstrations, and troubleshoot customer product issues in the field.
  • (Required)DevelopexpertiseinAFL’s optical products and hardware used by utility market customersin order toprovide the same customer training and supportas AFL’s electrical conductor accessories.

  • (Preferred)Experience with AFL products or equivalent(substation accessories, bus conductors, compression accessories, cable motion control hardware, formed wire cable hardware, and the related tools)
  • (Preferred) Current orpreviouselectrical line worker qualification(i.e.Line Apprentice 4, B-Class Lineman, A-class Lineman, Journeyman)transmission line or substation construction background.Distributionline background will also be considered.
