Position Overview
The Youth Program Coordinator leads the design and implementation of AHI’s Youth Resiliency Program. This role works closely with young adults, parents, schools, and community partners to coordinate workshops, field trips, and family engagement activities, while supporting the development of a peer-led Youth Committee. The Coordinator ensures programming is culturally and linguistically responsive, fosters academic success, promotes leadership development, and supports youth and family integration into the community.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Cohort Management
- Plan and deliver academic-focused workshops, tutoring, and family engagement activities.
- Manage a multi-cohort program model with a clear curriculum and attendance tracking.
- Gather and integrate feedback from youth, families, and staff to refine programming.
Youth Committee Facilitation
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor Youth Committee members.
- Support youth leaders in co-facilitating workshops and organizing activities.
- Ensure committee activities align with program goals.
Field Trip Coordination
- Organize educational and cultural field trips to local sites.
- Manage logistics, including transportation, permissions, and vendor coordination.
Program Evaluation & Reporting
- Support surveys and feedback tools to measure outcomes.
- Maintain documentation of workshops, field trips, and engagement activities.
- Provide program highlights and impact stories to the Program Director.
Participant & Family Engagement
- Conduct outreach and enroll youth in accordance with eligibility guidelines.
- Ensure services are accessible, culturally relevant, and linguistically appropriate.
- Engage parents in activities that strengthen family support and understanding of U.S. systems.
Additional Duties
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Represent AHI at community and partner events.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support AHI’s mission.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services.
- At least 1–2 years of program or youth coordination experience in a nonprofit, school, or community setting.
- Strong facilitation skills for leading workshops, discussions, and group activities with youth.
- Experience with data entry, documentation, and maintaining attendance/engagement records.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and support youth in navigating challenges.
- Flexibility and adaptability to support changing program needs and youth-driven priorities.
- Excellent English communication skills (speaking, reading, writing).
- Knowledge of Afghan cultural values and lived community experience.
- Bilingual/Trilingual (Dari, Farsi, Pashto, and English).
- Field-based experience in community engagement.
- Own means of transportation and flexible availability.
Preferred
- Experience working with immigrant/refugee or diverse communities.
- Knowledge of health disparities and community health promotion.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $23.33–$27.50
