Caregiver/Companion - Memory Care - Premium Pay $22-$25+

AffordCare Home Care is a small, local, family-owned agency serving Tacoma and Pierce County. We’re looking for a warm, reliable Caregiver/Companion with memory care experience for one dedicated client living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
This is a consistent, meaningful role — not rotating assignments. You’ll build real trust and routine with the same person every shift.

Memory care experience is required and rewarded with premium pay.

Pay $22–$25 per hour DOE (memory care shifts receive a pay premium)
Schedule – 40 hours/week, predictable for real work-life balance
• Sunday: 6:00am – 10:00am & 2:00pm – 6:00pm (8 hours split)
• Monday–Friday: 6:00am – 10:00am (4 hours each morning)
• Saturday: 6:00am – 6:00pm (12 hours)
Evenings are mostly free. Perfect if you want mornings focused and your afternoons/evenings back.
What You’ll Do
• Provide companionship, conversation, and meaningful engagement tailored to this one client’s personality and memory care needs
• Support daily routines with patience, calm, and dignity
• Assist with light meal prep, housekeeping, and transportation to appointments or errands during your shifts
• Join the client on walks, outings, or joyful activities
• Clock in/out via AxisCare EVV and keep professional, thorough notes
• Communicate any changes in the client’s health, mood, or safety to the care coordinator right away
Requirements (must-haves)
• Memory care experience — professional or caring for a family member — REQUIRED
• Current CAN or HCA certification — REQUIRED
• DSHS background check clearance (we’ll help you complete this before your first shift)
• CPR/First Aid (or willing to obtain within 30 days)
• Current TB test or ability to get one before starting
• Reliable transportation in the Tacoma area
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred
• Calm, patient demeanor — especially important in memory care situations
• Prior caregiving or senior services experience
• Bilingual (Spanish, Tagalog, or other languages strongly encouraged)
• Comfortable working independently in a client’s private home
