Position Overview Affordable Solar is seeking a skilled Solar Field Technician to join our growing team specializing in residential solar installations. The ideal candidate has some background in solar, electrical, or roofing work and is comfortable working on rooftops. While experience is preferred, we are open to the right candidate who demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, a solid work ethic, and a genuine interest in the renewable energy field. This role offers a clear path for growth, skill development, and pay advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform residential solar panel system installations from start to finish
- Make electrical connections from solar arrays to inverters and electrical panels
- Install and configure monitoring systems and electrical safety equipment
- Conduct electrical system assessments and basic calculations
- Perform routine maintenance and system inspections
- Troubleshoot inverters, monitoring systems, and electrical connectivity issues
- Complete upgrades and modifications to existing solar installations
- Adhere to local electrical codes, NEC standards, and utility requirements
- Work alongside experienced solar technicians to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
- Communicate professionally with homeowners throughout the installation process
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfort and confidence working on rooftops and at heights
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Basic math and problem-solving skills
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in solar installation or electrical work
- Roofing, construction, or related trade experience
- Familiarity with hand tools and field equipment
- Technical or trade school background
- Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)
