Staff Partner Engineer (Partner Engineering)

In this role as a Staff Partner Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership across Commercial and Product Partnership teams, supporting large cross-functional programs. You will represent Affirm’s engineering team and technologies to partners, such as Shopify and Stripe, while helping drive technical business strategy. This role entails operational support for ad hoc partner requests, collaborating with engineering teams on solution design, and managing the execution of long-term initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a culture of engineering excellence and innovation, unafraid to roll up their sleeves with engineers with a proven track record of delivering results.

What You'll Do

• Provide day to day support for technical questions from external partner stakeholders
• Lead the development of project plans by driving solution designs, timeline forecasting, task break-down, and testing strategy
• Develop integration support material and documentation for new products rollouts and feature updates
• Collaborate with Product, Eng, and Revenue leadership to build out partnership roadmaps
• Serves as an overarching SME and point of escalation for internal and external teams facing technical challenges
• Maintain clear, professional, and proactive communication with external partners to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables, while fostering strong, long-term relationships
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination, share insights, and drive projects to successful completion while maintaining open and constructive communication
• Provide feedback on integration strategy, potential product enhancements, and operational workflows
  
  

What We Look For

• 6 years experience in a Solutions Engineering, Partner Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or customer-facing Software Engineering experience
• Ability to read and understand multiple programming languages
• Experience with long-term project planning and execution
• Experience with Ecommerce or Payment Processor technologies
• Thorough understanding of JSON, HTML, REST API, and Webhook technologies
• Thorough understanding of the following concepts: integrating UX elements w/ backend services, frameworks, and 3rd party developer APIs
• Experience with observability tools and applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong project management skills, capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders to stay on schedule
• Passion and drive to change consumer banking for the better

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $190,000 - $240,000

USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $169,000 - $219,000

Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company! The majority of our roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within the country of employment. Affirmers in proximal roles have the flexibility to work remotely, but will occasionally be required to work out of their assigned Affirm office. A limited number of roles remain office-based due to the nature of their job responsibilities.
