Patient Registration Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for completing the patient registration process by patients collecting demographic information, determining appropriate fees and collection of payment.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

• Two (2) years' experience in a healthcare setting or related field.
• Two (2) years' experience in customer service.

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

• Good computer skills including the use of word processing and e-mail software. A test will be given.
• Knowledge of Third-Party Reimbursement required.
• Ability to accurately register and interview clients.
• Ability to read and interpret materials.
• Ability to use initiative is detail oriented, and flexible.
• Good oral and written communication, customer service, organizational and mathematical skills.
• Ability to use a 10 key calculator and credit card machine
• Capable of making bank deposits

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

• Interview patients to document necessary demographic information
• Review appreciates policies and regulations such as HIPAA with the patients
• Review appropriate policies and regulations such as HIPAA with the patients. Determine appropriate fees based on sliding fee scale. Verify and document third party coverage; establish payment plans, as necessary.
• Maintain appropriate information in patients' chart as needed.
• Prepare daily deposits and reconcile tally sheets.
• Refer patients to appropriate resources to apply for alternative methods of funding.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
