What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at AFFINIA HEALTHCARE?
Perform the duties required to provide support for providers in all aspects of patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse within a defined scope of care.
Education: Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) months experience as a Medical Assistant.
Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
- Ability to perform accurate blood drawing techniques.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing schedules.
- Good organization skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Good computer skill including the use of word processing and e-mail software.
Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
1. Certificate from Medical Assistant Training program.
2. CPR Certification.
Qualifications:- Performs patient intake (i.e. blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, respirations, weights and measurements) on patients for medical examination.
- Performs tests (i.e. blood glucose test, urine dipstick, pulse oximetry, vision tests, hearing screens and EKGs).
- Gives medications/immunizations as ordered per route (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sub-dermal).
- Notifies Clinic Nurse Coordinator and Provider of abnormal vital signs, blood glucose, or EKG results.
- Prepares, maintains exam rooms assuring that they are cleaned and stocked; performs sterilization of instruments.
- Assists urgent care patients by monitoring vital signs and assisting with transportation to another department or facility.
- Responsible for general office procedures (i.e. venipunctures, dressing changes and nebulizer treatments).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
