Our manufacturing client in Newton, IA is seeking a Welding Manager to lead welding operations, training, and process improvement in a large-scale heavy fabrication environment supporting wind tower manufacturing.
This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across production, quality, and engineering — ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, developing welders, and driving quality in a safety-focused environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise welding technicians and weld school operations
- Train, qualify, and certify welders at various skill levels
- Troubleshoot welding processes, equipment, and defects
- Drive welding process improvements for quality and efficiency
- Support customer and third-party welding audits
- Conduct internal welding audits and performance reporting
- Serve as technical subject matter expert on welding procedures
- Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions
- Assist with new welder mentor programs
- Support production welding as needed
What We're Looking For
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) — or ability to obtain within one year
- Strong experience with FCAW, SAW, and GMAW
- Working knowledge of AWS D1.1
- Hands-on heavy fabrication experience
- Strong coaching, leadership, and training skills
- Experience with welding process improvement
- 5 years heavy fabrication experience (or related degree experience)
