Deli & Bakery Specialist
At Affiliated Foods, Inc., we are committed to supporting independent retailers with the products, programs, and expertise they need to succeed. We are currently seeking a motivated, organized, and customer-focused Deli & Bakery Specialist to join our team.
This role is responsible for supporting retail deli and bakery operations through merchandising, training, product promotion, operational guidance, and store support initiatives designed to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This is a travel-based position requiring regular visits to retail store locations.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement competitive pricing strategies, stocking methods, and selling techniques that maintain pricing integrity while driving sales and profitability
- Create annual, seasonal, and weekly merchandising and promotional plans for deli and bakery departments
- Train and support Retail Bakery/Deli Managers in daily operations, including:
- Baking procedures
- Cake decorating
- Merchandising standards
- Store layouts
- Product pricing
- Inventory stocking practices
- Partner with store management teams to evaluate department performance, gross margins, and operational opportunities that improve sales and customer service
- Provide operational guidance and support to retail locations to ensure consistency, quality, and best practices
- Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
- Work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Travel regularly to retail store locations to provide on-site support and training
- Territory of responsibilities will include Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, & Nebraska
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Store Management and/or the Director of Bakery/Deli
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred, or a minimum of three (3) years of equivalent work experience
- Previous experience in a retail bakery and/or deli environment preferred
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to build effective working relationships with store management, personnel, and support teams
- Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
This position reports directly to the Director of Bakery/Deli.
