HR Director – Manufacturing | Multi-Facility

We are a multi-facility manufacturing company with 80 years experience serving the home building industry and are seeking an experienced HR Director to lead human resources strategy and operations across multiple plant locations. This role reports directly to the Executive Vice President & CFO and plays a key role in workforce planning, compliance, compensation, benefits, and employee relations.
This position is ideal for a hands-on HR leader with manufacturing experience who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day HR execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all Human Resources functions for a multi-location manufacturing organization
- Oversee HR policies, procedures, employee handbook, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Direct compensation, benefits administration, salary surveys, and merit planning
- Manage recruitment and retention strategies for exempt, nonexempt, and temporary manufacturing employees
- Support plant managers with employee relations, disciplinary counseling, performance management, and workforce planning
- Oversee EEO-1 reporting, ACA compliance (1094/1095), OSHA logs, and HR recordkeeping
- Partner with leadership on organizational development, career pathing, and training initiatives
- Supervise a small HR team and manage the HR department budget
- Provide HR metrics, reports, and recommendations to executive leadership
- Serve as liaison with legal counsel and external HR/benefits providers
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in HR management
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site operations strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, compensation, and employee relations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Alternative to Minimum Qualifications
- SHRM-SCP certification with hands-on manufacturing experience
