Role Description The Nurse Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based at AFC Urgent Care in Holland, MI. This role involves independently assessing and managing patients with acute illnesses and injuries, performing focused histories and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The Nurse Practitioner will provide care for workplace injuries and occupational medicine cases, conduct sports and camp physicals, and support travel medicine services, including vaccines and counseling. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and clinical staff, documenting care in the medical record, prescribing medications within scope, and educating patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care. The role also includes participation in quality improvement activities, adherence to clinical protocols, and support of efficient clinic flow during extended hours.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Michigan and national NP certification (e.g., FNP, AGNP, or equivalent).
- Clinical skills in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine, including assessment and management of acute illnesses and minor injuries.
- Competence in ordering, interpreting, and integrating diagnostic tests such as basic labs, X-rays, and point-of-care testing.
- Strong patient communication skills, including clear explanation of diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans, with a focus on patient education and safety.
- Ability to perform occupational medicine services, including evaluation of workplace injuries, return-to-work assessments, and completion of related documentation.
