Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mastercam Engineer/CNC Set-Up Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and optimizing CNC machines using Mastercam software. This role requires strong technical expertise in CNC machining, G-code programming, tooling, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality production and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Mastercam Programming: Develop and modify CNC programs using Mastercam for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining operations.
- CNC Machine Set-Up: Set up CNC mills and lathes, including tool selection, fixture setup, and first-article inspections.
- Process Optimization: Analyze machining processes and make improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machine errors, tooling issues, and program inconsistencies.
- Quality Control: Perform inspections using calipers, micrometers, CMM, and other precision measuring tools.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and production staff to optimize designs and processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and suggest process enhancements.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of programs, setups, and machining parameters for repeatability.
- Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience
- 3 years of CNC programming and machine setup experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Software Proficiency: Strong experience with Mastercam (required); knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM software is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining drawings.
- Machine Knowledge: Familiarity with Haas, Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma, or other CNC controls.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to minimize downtime and improve machining processes.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain precision tolerances and quality standards.
- Education: Technical certification or associate degree in machining, CNC programming, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of 5-axis machining and advanced toolpath strategies.
- Experience with high-speed machining and complex surface finishing.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP software for job tracking and scheduling.
Salary : $65,000 - $85,000
