AFC Industries is seeking an experienced, hands-on Casework Fabricator to build custom command-and-control consoles, technical workstations, commercial casework, cabinets, and other laminated products.
This is a skilled manufacturing position for someone experienced in casework fabrication, architectural millwork, laminate fabrication, custom woodworking, or furniture manufacturing. Our products are similar in construction to high-quality kitchen cabinets, commercial casework, reception desks, and architectural millwork, but are designed for professional command centers, control rooms, and technical work environments.
The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret shop drawings, plan fabrication and assembly sequences, accurately manufacture components, assemble finished products, and take ownership of quality from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom command-and-control consoles, technical workstations, cabinets, and commercial casework.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, dimensions, cut lists, and specifications.
- Measure, lay out, cut, machine, and assemble plywood, MDF, particleboard, and other sheet materials.
- Apply high-pressure plastic laminate, Formica, and similar decorative surfaces.
- Cut, bond, route, trim, file, and finish laminate to produce clean, professional edges and surfaces.
- Operate table saws, panel saws, routers, drills, sanders, edge-banders, and other common woodworking equipment.
- Install hinges, drawer slides, locks, handles, leveling feet, and other hardware.
- Create accurate openings and provisions for monitors, electrical equipment, ventilation, cable management, and other technical components.
- Build assemblies that are square, level, dimensionally accurate, and ready for final assembly.
- Inspect work throughout the fabrication process to identify quality issues early.
- Identify drawing, material, fit, or fabrication problems before they result in scrap or production delays.
- Troubleshoot fabrication issues and recommend practical improvements to manufacturing methods.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient work area.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, metal fabrication, and assembly teams.
- Complete work according to production schedules and communicate potential delays promptly.
- Train or provide guidance to less-experienced fabricators or assemblers when needed.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in casework fabrication, architectural millwork, custom woodworking, furniture manufacturing, or related production environments.
- Demonstrated experience fabricating casework, furniture, workstations, or similar products from raw sheet materials.
- Strong experience with high-pressure plastic laminate / Formica fabrication.
- Ability to read and work from shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, and cut lists with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Experience with hardware, joinery, and assembly methods.
- Strong attention to detail and finished-product quality.
- Ability to independently identify and solve fabrication and assembly problems.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle sheet goods, components, and completed assemblies.
- Willingness to work overtime when required to meet production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building command-and-control consoles, control-room furniture, technical furniture, nurse stations, reception desks, laboratory casework, store fixtures, or exhibit displays.
- Experience operating CNC routers, panel saws, automated edge-banders, or similar production equipment.
- Experience creating cut lists and planning fabrication sequences.
- Experience building first articles, prototypes, or one-of-a-kind products.
- Experience working with wood products, plastic laminate, metal components, and mixed-material assemblies.
