Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, to ensure safe and effective treatment.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental x-ray equipment while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
- Assist with chairside procedures by preparing instruments, managing dental equipment, and ensuring a smooth workflow during treatments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and practicing infection control standards with aseptic techniques.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for record keeping and documentation review.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry and providing care tailored to pediatric patients.
- Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during patient treatments.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks such as vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health records (EHR) management.
- Expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care.
- Knowledge of dental equipment operation and maintenance along with understanding of dental x-ray safety protocols.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance management by safeguarding patient information at all times.
