Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring that all building systems, equipment, and grounds are kept in safe, efficient working conditions. This involves performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and responding to maintenance requests to support smooth facility operations.
Requirements
Preventive & Routine Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, filter changes, calibration, and safety tests.
- Maintain maintenance logs and update service records.
- Diagnose and repair issues with building systems, equipment, and fixtures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff or building users.
- Repair or replace lighting, doors, locks, fixtures, flooring, and appliances as needed.
- Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and report irregularities.
- Set up rooms, furniture, and equipment for meetings or special events.
- Assist with security, fire safety, and emergency system checks.
- Perform upkeep of exterior areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, landscaping, and signage.
- Remove snow, debris, and hazards to maintain a safe environment.
- Follow all OSHA, building codes, and company safety protocols.
- Participate in safety inspections and corrective action plans.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free workplace.
- Coordinate and perform 5S safety walks.
- Track and restock maintenance supplies and tools.
- Assist with scheduling and overseeing third‑party contractors and service providers.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in mechanical or light facility maintenance roles; mechanical aptitude required.
- Familiarity with basic tools and cleaning equipment.
- Recent forklift and scissor-lift operating experience in active warehouse or yard environments.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
- Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift items, and operate cleaning machinery.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to ask questions, report concerns, and coordinate clearly with teammates.
- Commitment to following safety procedures, company policies, and operational guidelines without shortcuts.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to safely lift, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform regular physical tasks using proper techniques.
- Comfortable working in small or confined spaces and tight loading areas while maintaining situational awareness.
- Ability to climb up, under, around, and over large equipment and work safely at heights of up to 30 feet in accordance with safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round and in non-climate-controlled warehouses.
- A current, valid driver's license, with an insurable driving record, is required.
