Position Summary:
The Machine Support Technician assists in machine shop activities.
What will your day look like? At Aerotech, you will:
- Removes burrs of excess metal from and reduces sharp surfaces of precision machined parts
- Must be able to recognize and use hand tools such as a file, tri-blade, drill, etc.
- Operation of CNC & manual bandsaw
- Matching blueprints to raw materials and travelers per the correct part number and revision
- Basic blueprint reading
- Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks
- Delivers metal parts or stock to designated work areas for machining
- Reclaims metal chip bins from machining centers.
- Assists in regular inventory cycle counts
Additional duties:
- Responsible for respirator care and maintenance
- Refilling of machine lubricant reservoirs
- Basic upkeep of shop organization
- As assigned
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Knowledge to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Skilled at applying common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Basic computer skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- One to three months of related experience and/or training in a machine shop or similar environment
- Must be able to recognize and use hand tools such as a file, tri-blade, drill, etc
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- One to three months of related experience and/or training
