Position Summary / Job Description:
The Engineer I - Mechanical supports solutions implementation and solves technical problems of limited scope and impact; apply basic engineering and scientific principles. Support project leader as a team member and gain exposure to working with designers, customers, diverse teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Functions Include:
As a member of the Engineering team supporting OEM Completions, you will be integral to the design and certification of Aircraft Interiors. This activity includes:
1. Review of Aircraft Interior floorplans, Project Specific Cert Plans, and Compliance Check Lists.
2. Review aircraft configuration lists and identify all applicable drawings with Mechanical Systems aspects.
3. Understand Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Safety, and Operational aspects of installations.
4. Knowledge of FAA Certification, Mechanical Systems FAA regulations.
5. Ability to draft FAA approvals (8110-3 and 8100-9).
6. Report Writing, Cross-Functional Coordination.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Review Type Design / Configuration Management Data Lists.
2. Review 2D Drawings, interrogate 3D CAD Data, and associated Bill of Material (BOM).
3. Coordinate requirements AND Resolve design conflicts between different functional teams within Engineering and Manufacturing.
4. Draft Engineering Reports that include System Descriptions, Analytical Comparisons, and Compliance Statements.
5. Draft and audit FAA (ODA) conformity and approval forms 8100-9.
6. Routing of documents within the Configuration Management System.
7. Good communications skills with customers and other team members.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in drafting, design, Engineering or Technology is required along with 24 months of related experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math’s, or Science is preferred.
*Travel will be involved approximately 5% of the time.
Required Skills:
Critical Thinking
Working knowledge of FAA Regulations and Airworthiness Requirements, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, experience with Dassault CAD and PDM applications such as CATIA, Enovia, and SmarTeam.
