Role Description The Avionics Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, configuration, and maintenance of avionics and electrical systems on general aviation aircraft. This position performs hands-on avionics work including equipment removal and installation, aircraft disassembly and reassembly necessary to complete installations, wiring, system configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and return-to-service support. The Avionics Technician is expected to perform work safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable FAA regulations, manufacturer instructions, approved technical data, and Aerosecure procedures and quality standards.

Professional Skills The Avionics Technician is expected to develop and maintain the technical knowledge necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned work.

The position requires:

• Basic electrical and aircraft wiring knowledge.
• Working knowledge of Garmin, Avidyne, Dynon, and Aspen avionics equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow installation manuals, maintenance manuals, service information, and other applicable technical data.
• Ability to use appropriate hand tools, power tools, precision tools, electrical test equipment, and avionics diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and avionics discrepancies using a logical and systematic approach.
• Ability to follow manufacturer installation, configuration, testing, and calibration procedures.

Key Responsibilities The Avionics Technician may perform duties including but not limited to:

• Remove, install, and integrate avionics equipment and associated components including Garmin, Avidyne, Dynon, Aspen, and other approved systems.
• Perform aircraft disassembly and reassembly as necessary to safely complete avionics installations, modifications, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Install, troubleshoot, test, and maintain avionics systems including autopilots, GPS/navigation equipment, audio panels/intercoms, ELTs, ADS-B equipment, antennas, and associated components.
• Build, modify, install, and repair aircraft electrical wiring and avionics harnesses, including connector assembly, pinning/depinning, crimping, soldering, coaxial cable, routing, termination and securing of wiring.
• Read, interpret, and follow wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, installation manuals, maintenance manuals, and other applicable technical data.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot avionics and electrical discrepancies involving wiring, power, grounds, signals, communications, equipment, and system integration using appropriate test and diagnostic equipment.
• Perform avionics configuration, software updates, system calibration, and other manufacturer-required setup procedures.
• Conduct functional and operational testing following installation, modification, or repair to verify proper system performance before submitting work for inspection or return-to-service review.
• Perform or assist with applicable avionics inspections and testing, including altimeter/static system and transponder testing, within the technician’s qualifications and Aerosecure’s applicable authorizations.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and support required maintenance records, logbook entries, and return-to-service documentation while ensuring work is completed in accordance with applicable FAA requirements, approved technical data, manufacturer procedures, and Aerosecure standards.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of aircraft electrical wiring and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to work with Garmin, Avidyne, Dynon, and Aspen avionics equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Ability to read and follow installation manuals, maintenance manuals, and applicable technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in confined or restricted areas within and around aircraft.
• Perform work overhead and in awkward or restricted positions.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment, and specialized avionics equipment.
• Lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a general aviation hangar environment that may include exposure to aircraft noise, fuels, oils, cleaning products, chemicals, dust, and other normal aviation maintenance conditions.
• Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, including Arizona heat.
• Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
