Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on CNC Programmer to develop, improve, and support CNC machining processes throughout our facility.

This position is responsible for taking new parts from drawing through programming, setup, prove-out, and production handoff, while also supporting existing production with programming, tooling, troubleshooting, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate understands the complete machining process—not just CAM programming.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgramming & New Part Development

· Develop CNC programs for new and existing parts using CAM software such as Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar, along with G & M code as needed.

· Review engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T to determine the best machining approach.

· Select tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and setup methods.

· Perform or lead machine setup and prove-out of new programs.

· Troubleshoot issues and make adjustments until the process is stable and production-ready.

· Provide realistic setup and cycle-time estimates for new-part quotations when needed.

Process Documentation & Program Control

· Create and maintain clear setup sheets and work instructions for CNC-machined parts.

· Maintain organized CNC programs and documentation within the company’s MRP system.

· Ensure approved programs are properly saved, identified, and revision controlled.

· Help prevent unauthorized program changes and the loss or unnecessary recreation of proven programs.

Production Support & Process Improvement

· Support machinists and operators with programming, setup, tooling, and machining issues.

· Improve existing processes to reduce cycle time, setup time, tooling cost, scrap, and process variation.

· Evaluate tooling performance and identify opportunities to standardize tooling across machines and part families.

· Assist with troubleshooting significant machine or process problems.

· Train and support production personnel on new programs, setups, tooling, and machining processes.

Equipment & Manufacturing Support

· Assist with evaluating new CNC equipment, tooling, workholding, and manufacturing technology.

· Support machine installation, process development, and prove-out of new equipment.

· Provide technical input on CNC machine maintenance needs and identify when outside service may be required.

· Work closely with the Production Manager and production team to continuously improve CNC machining operations.

The CNC Programmer reports to the Production Manager and is expected to take ownership of assigned programming and process-development projects from start through successful production implementation. The goal is to develop CNC processes that are safe, repeatable, efficient, well-documented, and production ready. This is a technical position and does not have direct supervisory responsibility for production personnel.
