JOB OVERVIEW:
This role is based in Harrisonburg, VA. Relocation is available. The NDT Responsible Level III is the designated technical authority for all nondestructive testing methods and procedures. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with customer, FAA regulatory, and industry standards; developing and approving NDT procedures; training and certifying personnel; and maintaining the integrity of the company’s NDT program. The Responsible Level III provides leadership, oversight, and technical guidance to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality inspection practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the Responsible Level III in accordance with NAS 410.
- Establish, review, and approve NDT procedures, techniques, and written practices.
- Administer and oversee the company’s NDT personnel certification program, including training, examinations, and recertification.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for complex inspections.
- Ensure NDT activities comply with customer requirements, industry codes/standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Interface with internal teams, customers, and regulatory bodies on NDT-related matters.
- Maintain qualification records and ensure audit readiness at all times.
- Lead and support internal and external audits.
- Evaluate new inspection technologies and recommend process improvements.
- Provide mentoring and continuous development for NDT Level I and II personnel.
- Operate as an NDT Level II, as needed.
- Drive a culture of safety, compliance, and quality in all NDT operations.
- Follow standard practices and safety procedures.
- Strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING:
This position requires daily autonomous decision-making capabilities when working with both internal and external customers.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- ASNT/NAS-410 Level III certification in RT and/or PT (Both are preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of NDT experience with at least 2 years in a Level III capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, NAS, MIL-STD, etc.).
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with proven ability to train and mentor inspectors.
- Demonstrated success in managing NDT compliance programs and audits (NADCAP, AS9100, etc. as applicable).
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
