What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plastic Injection Technician Supervisor position at AERON Advanced Manufacturing?
Aeron Advanced Manufacturing is looking for a skilled and adaptable Plastic Injection Technician Supervisor to join the team at our location in Mason City, Iowa. This position is responsible for working under limited supervision. The position is responsible for setting up molds, establishing optimum machine process parameters, troubleshooting processes, mold, and machine problems, performing preventive maintenance on molds, performing tool repair and operating injection presses production and sample runs. This position provides technical support on tool design and process control as well as ensuring all materials and auxiliary equipment are available and scheduled accordingly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Machine, maintain, repair, and perform changeovers on injection molds.
· Performs process setups on each mold / part and ensures documentation is followed and / or modified in writing as needed.
· Provide technical support for tool maintenance, repair, and refurbishment programs.
· Troubleshoot mold and tooling issues, implement corrective actions, and recommend improvements.
· Visually inspect parts for surface and dimensional defects
· Operates drill presses, cutters, milling Machine, sonic welders and custom fixtures as needed to meet quality standards.
· Uses various diagnostic tools to optimize the injection process to make the best possible product in the least amount of time and drive process optimization to reduce waste, improve cycle time and enhance component quality.
· Be a technical resource and tooling design specialist working closely with Management and Engineering and recommend enhancements for manufacturability.
· Will provide directions to all press operators and assembly personnel.
· Performs daily and periodic preventive maintenance on tooling and machinery.
· Inspects and test cases at the beginning of each production run to ensure conformance to customer specific standards.
· Strong knowledge of mold design principles, plastic material properties, and manufacturing processes.
· Read and interpret 2D and 3D mold design
Skills & Abilities
· Working knowledge of plastic injection molding process
· Communicate mold issues with sense of urgency
· Ability to work in a team environment to ensure mold repairs meet production schedules
· Effective problem solving & troubleshooting skills
· Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
· Strong tool build and/or design knowledge
