What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing & Tooling Specialist position at AeroCreeper?
About AeroCreeper AeroCreeper is a family-owned business in Corinne, UT. We build high-end, adjustable-height creepers used worldwide in high-stakes industries, with a heavy focus on aviation and aerospace maintenance.
Job Summary We are seeking a versatile, hands-on Manufacturing & Tooling Specialist to take ownership of our production readiness and shop floor efficiency. This is a highly practical, technical role designed for someone who has machining experience but wants variety in their day.
In this role, you won't just be running repetitive parts. You will use 3D modeling software to design custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures, program them, and machine them yourself. You will become our internal expert on our machining operations, keep downtime to a minimum, and help lead our shop's transition to efficient, Lean Manufacturing processes.
If you know your way around a machine shop and want a role where you can design your own setups and truly run the floor, this is the position for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Tooling & Prototyping: Design custom tooling, jigs, and fixtures using 3D CAD software. Personally program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machining equipment to fabricate your designs and build new prototypes.
- Process Setup: Establish, test, and dial in production machining processes to ensure our manufacturing line runs smoothly.
- Floor Troubleshooting: Learn our internal manufacturing processes inside and out so you can provide quick, hands-on mechanical troubleshooting during downtime or process changes.
- Lean Manufacturing: Act as a key leader on the floor to help transition our shop into an organized, efficient Lean culture—identifying waste, organizing workflows (5S), and optimizing layout.
Qualifications & Skills
- Machining Experience: Practical, hands-on experience with CNC and manual machining setup, programming, and operation. You don't need to be a master of hyper-complex parts, but you must be confident and independent setting up and running equipment.
- 3D Modeling: Familiarity or proficiency with 3D modeling software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Fusion 360) to design your own fixtures and components.
- Traits: A natural problem-solver and tinkerer who is comfortable moving back and forth between a computer screen and a physical shop floor.
Bonus Skills:
- Practical experience with welding, metal fabrication, or 3D printing.
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts (waste reduction, continuous improvement).
To Apply
If you are looking for a hands-on role with more variety, autonomy, and ownership than a standard machine operator job, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your resume to apply.
