Mission description
Coordinates, assists and supports co-workers engaged in verifying and filing shipping documents, and preparing products and materials for shipping or mailing by performing the following duties. Summary of Duties: Promotes cooperation and positive communication with co-workers. Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. Oversees shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Determines space requirements for shipments. Determines routing and legal load limits for company vehicles. Inspects and maintains material handling equipment such as lifts and hand trucks. Issues written and oral instructions to co-workers and vendors. Lifts, positions, and removes production units and materials within the shipping area and on/off delivery truck. Loads, stacks, and transports products and materials by truck. Wraps, ties, or places products or materials in containers, boxes, or envelopes for shipping or mailing. Prepares products and materials for shipping by properly padding and securing. Compares identifying information of outgoing shipments to verify against invoices, orders, or other records. Maintains records of items shipped or mailed. Assembles wooden crates and binds crates and containers with straps. Picks up and trucks scrap from work areas. Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties. Verifies unit dimensions before preparing shipping containers, boxes, or envelopes. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or properly marks identifying shipping information on cartons. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Must be able to work overtime when designated. Works at different work stations as needs require. Tasks vary as units complete certain phases of production.
Must be able to effectively control and manipulate various pneumatic and hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, clamps, and pliers. Must be able to safely operate a power hand saw. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in interpreting MSDS and hazard warning labels. Must have current and valid driver's license. Must have current certification as forklift operator. Must have sensitivity to safety regulations and requirements. Able to work within the time constraints dictated by company's agreement to customer requests. Must know how to read and use a tape measure. Able to self-inspect personal work and correct discrepancies in a timely manner. Must meet or exceed current training requirements. Available to assist in other areas of the company, as directed by supervisor. Must be able to speak, read and write English in order to safely and accurately follow all processes.
