Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Construction Bookkeeper to join our team. This essential role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project managers, and ensuring smooth accounting operations across multiple construction projects. You will manage financial data, reconcile accounts, produce reports, and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will help keep projects financially on track and contribute to the overall success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounting for multiple construction projects, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded using accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar.
- Use Procore construction management software daily for project financial tracking, budget management, commitments, invoicing, and overall documentation (required).
- Perform detailed reconciliation of bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project-specific ledgers to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare and process journal entries (debits and credits) in accordance with GAAP and construction accounting best practices.
- Manage A/P and A/R workflows, ensuring timely payments, billing, collections, and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Conduct regular balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by analyzing project costs and comparing them against approved budgets.
- Generate accurate financial reports and support tax preparation by documenting project-related expenses and income.
- Support payroll processing, ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards when applicable.
- Conduct account analysis to uphold precise, audit-ready financial records across all projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting within the construction industry (required).
- Proficiency with Procore construction management software (required).
- Strong knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits/credits, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Knowledge of GAAP principles specific to construction accounting.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting procedures and relevant construction-related tax regulations (preferred).
- Strong skills in bank reconciliation, budgeting, A/P, A/R, and financial reporting.
- Efficient 10-key typing and strong data-entry accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with project managers, field personnel, and vendors.
