Job Description

Job Title: Crew Chief 

Department: Maintenance

Job Description: 

1. Purpose: Perform and supervise periodic and progressive inspections of, major and minor repairs on, and servicing of General Aviation aircraft in accordance with Repair Station and company procedures.

1. Responsibilities: Maintain accurate records of all work performed using the Work Order system forms and procedures. Maintain an accurate record of time utilized in performance of the work and internal activities. Maintain company equipment and tools in serviceable condition. Be working towards or maintaining a current qualification as an IA, and maintain technical qualifications to be able to return aircraft to service following repairs or inspections. Make appropriate aircraft logbook entries for work performed. Conduct on-the-job training of A&P Mechanics and Non-Certified Mechanics in specific tasks. Be responsible for proper job planning and effective resource utilization of their assigned personnel. Conduct effective communications with aircraft owners and pilots concerning aircraft maintenance problems and repair schedules.

1. Organization Relationships: Reports to a Maintenance Manager and is also responsible to the Chief Inspector for work performed by the Crew.

Job Requirements:

1. Education/Certification: A&P License is required. High School Diploma is strongly recommended.

1. Experience: Has worked as an A&P Mechanic for 2 years minimum. Sufficient experience in the specific airframes being supervised, as determined by the appropriate manager.

1. Technical Requirements: Be capable of performing assigned tasks safely and accurately in a timely fashion. Be capable of writing an accurate description of all work performed. Be familiar with General Aviation aircraft and systems. Be able to communicate and delegate amongst the members of the crew and lead by example.
