What are the responsibilities and job description for the Video Editor position at Aerial9 Media?
About Aerial9 Media
Aerial9 Media is a boutique premium video production and social media management company based in San Diego, serving luxury real estate agents and high-end custom builders across North County Coastal markets — Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Solana Beach.
Our philosophy is simple: less, but better. We produce cinematic, understated work that reflects the caliber of the properties and brands we represent. We're not chasing trends or volume — we're building a small, sharp team focused on craft, consistency, and long-term client relationships through our Partner Program retainers.
The Role
We're hiring a part-time Video Editor to join our production team. You'll be cutting property films, agent branding content, social reels, and builder showcase pieces — all held to a high cinematic standard. This role works closely with our founder and operations lead, with clear creative direction, established style guides, and a structured project pipeline managed through our in-house editor portal.
This is a remote-friendly role. Local candidates in San Diego County are welcome but not required.
What You'll Do
- Edit luxury real estate property films, agent on-camera scripts, social reels, and builder/commercial content from organized footage drops in Dropbox
- Color grade to a consistent Aerial9 look — refined, cinematic, and never over-stylized
- Cut to music with strong pacing and rhythm; build sequences that breathe rather than chase cuts
- Add subtle motion graphics, lower thirds, and titles consistent with our brand standards
- Sync deliverables and revisions through our editor portal and Slack channels
- Hit deadlines on a recurring retainer schedule — Partner Program clients receive monthly content packages on a predictable cadence
- Self-QC your work before delivery; we don't have a margin for sloppy exports
What We're Looking For
- Final Cut Pro proficiency is required. Our entire pipeline runs on Final Cut Pro X; Editors who haven't worked in FCP regularly won't be a fit for this role.
- A strong reel demonstrating restraint — we care more about pacing, framing, and tonal consistency than transitions, effects, or trendy edits
- Genuine eye for color; experience grading footage from Sony cinema cameras (A7S III and FX3) is a strong plus
- Comfortable working with vertical formats for Instagram Reels and TikTok alongside horizontal property films
- Strong communication and reliability — this role lives on Slack and Notion, and we need someone who responds, asks questions, and flags issues early
- Self-directed; you should be able to take a brief, footage, and a music track, and return something close to final without hand-holding
- Bonus: motion graphics chops in Motion, experience with luxury real estate or high-end brand content, familiarity with Frame.io or similar review workflows
Why This Role
We're not a content mill. Our clients are flagship agents and custom builders in one of the most competitive luxury markets in the country, and the work has to reflect that. If you're tired of churning out generic real estate walkthroughs and want to build a craft portfolio inside a brand that values restraint and quality, this is the seat.
To Apply
- Send a reel link, a short note about why this role interests you, and your availability. Pay is project-based and discussed in the interview.
