About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assembly Specialist II to join our logistics team. This role builds on foundational assembly skills and takes on greater responsibility for complex mechanical and electrical assembly, including the assembly of wire harnesses and cable assemblies. The ideal candidate brings strong blueprint reading ability, hands-on precision assembly experience, and the capability to work with minimal supervision on varied manufactured products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble complex mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and wire harnesses according to engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
- Route, cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables per specifications; install connectors, terminals, and strain reliefs following applicable standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, GD&T callouts, and dimensional tolerances with a high degree of accuracy.
- Perform layout, drilling, tapping, deburring, press fitting of bushings, heli-coil installations, and general precision mechanical assembly.
- Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, torque wrenches, continuity testers, etc.).
- Conduct first-article and in-process inspections of mechanical and electrical assemblies for quality, fit, accuracy, and compliance.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies, nonconformances, or drawing conflicts to engineering or quality teams.
- Follow standardized work instructions and actively participate in continuous improvement of assembly processes.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Accurately record production data, completed work, inspection results, and nonconformances.
- Mentor and assist Assembly I-level team members as needed.
Qualifications
- 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, wire harness assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, or related technical manufacturing work.
- Demonstrated experience assembling wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or electro-mechanical systems including crimping, terminating, and routing.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, GD&T callouts, and dimensional requirements.
- Proficiency with standard measurement and test tools (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, continuity testers, etc.).
- Experience with heli-coil inserts, press-fit bushing installation, and precision fastener torquing.
- Ability to work independently and make sound quality decisions with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
