RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Mechanical Engineer is primarily responsible for creating design documents from conceptual through constructible detailed design
- Work as an individual/joint contributor on specially assigned projects
- Develop conceptual designs for preliminary budgeting and sales presentations
- Design tasks will include initial layout and site constraints, base model development, system and equipment selection, detailed design and calculations, submittal review, design meetings, coordination of checking and release of detailing to fabrication.
- Coordinate all support activities required to complete all design efforts and quality assurance process
- Ensuring site evaluation as required, customer interaction, design development of systems, documentation of key deliverables
- Depending on workload, may require project management of identified projects
- Involvement may be necessary during the construction and servicing phase which includes site visits and factory acceptance testing as necessary.
- Communicate with appropriate departments to clarify job requirements, add needed information, or research and obtain appropriate supporting documentation.
- Maintain Vault and server job files.
- Keep records of job received, examining for accuracy and completeness. Identify potential drawing issues and redesign to improve fabrication.
- Calculate dimensions, weights, and material requirements.
- Become familiar with company products and practices, material libraries, and other automated design tools.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, field engineers, and manufacturers.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical/conveyor design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial or Mining Engineering; OR completion of a technical school in mining, plus 5 years of related work experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Professional Engineer license a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge in ASME, ASCE, CEMA, ASTM, MSHA and other applicable codes
- Conveyor belt analysis, aggregate flow and conveyor design experience a plus.
- Highly skilled in Autodesk Suite with emphasis on Inventor, Vault and BIM 360
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new processes and applications
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
