AEP Hawaii is partnering with Sudowrite, a Hawaii-based, venture-backed startup that builds AI-powered creative writing tools specifically designed to help fiction authors with drafting and world-building. Despite being a small team of nine, they are a profitable, and an industry leader in the "AI for Creatives" space, supporting over 30,000 paying users.
Our priority is hiring an Operations Lead on Oahu or a mainland Kama'aina looking to move home and join the team of superstars.
Operations Lead
I'm Amit, one of the founders of Sudowrite. I'll be direct: I'm drowning in a good way, and I need a right hand.
Sudowrite makes AI writing tools for serious fiction authors. 30,000 paying writers. 20 billion words written. Four years profitable, no VC board telling us what to do. Small team (9 full-time), big mission.
I need someone who makes sure I spend 80% of my time on what only I can do. The rest is yours to figure out, execute, and automate.
What this actually looks like
Some days: prepping context for a $1M vendor negotiation, running SQL to support a tax decision, writing SOPs and automating them with AI.
Other days: getting a contractor agreement signed, researching travel logistics, approving expenses, ordering office supplies.
The most important job is automating your own job. We're an AI company. Anything we find ourselves doing twice should be automated.
The 30/90/180 picture
First 30 days: in my meetings, learning how I work, taking things off my plate.
3 months in: you've automated recurring projects, prepped decisions, given me 3x more headspace.
6 months in: you independently own projects- retreat planning, vendor negotiations, or something new we haven't thought of yet. You're looking at data sources before I ask.
Who you are
You're the most organized person your friends know. You can context-switch between a spreadsheet and a grocery order without feeling like one is beneath you. You've worked in operations, chief of staff, EA, or jack-of-all-trades roles at startups. Different seniority levels considered. We care how you think, not years on a resume.
You're AI-native. Not "I use ChatGPT sometimes." You've built with Claude Code, Cowork, or similar tools. You've scripted automations, connected integrations, and deployed agents. You've gotten creative with it.
You can work onsite in Honolulu, Hawaii, 5 days a week. Oahu candidates preferred. Office opens May 1st.
The package
$80,000–$120,000 depending on experience, plus profit share, equity, full health and dental, 401(k), unlimited books, and company retreats.
