Duties
- Help maintain clean and orderly facilities
- Set up and clean up meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
- Assist teachers to implement rich hands-on learning experiences for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play designed to promote social, emotional, communicative, creative, physical, and intellectual development.
- Show love and respect to every child in the program, giving individual attention whenever possible.
- Attend to children's basic needs including changing diapers and assisting in the bathroom.
- Encourage positive behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
- Establish a relationship with parents and guardians.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Model proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
- Supervise indoor and outdoor play to facilitate creative play and safety.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completed Intro to the Childcare Profession Skills and Strategies
- Level 4 or above on the Registry (can be completed after beginning employment)
- Be physically able to work with children
