Position Overview — Professional Engineer
We’re seeking a New York/ New Jersey State Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as (Professional Engineer), P.E. on DOT and heavy civil infrastructure projects. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for developing project-specific Quality Plans, supervising QA/QC activities, and ensuring full adherence to DOT and agency requirements.
What You’ll Do
Geotechnical Instrumentation & Engineering
- Serve as the Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer (GIE) for NYC DEP infrastructure projects.
- Develop instrumentation installation procedures, schedules, and monitoring plans.
- Oversee borehole logging, instrumentation installation, and acceptance testing activities.
- Interpret geotechnical instrumentation data and provide engineering assessments and recommendations.
- Train field personnel and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
Must Haves
- Active New York State Professional Engineer (PE) License (Mandatory).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical instrumentation installation, monitoring, and data interpretation.
- Direct NYC DEP project experience (Plus).
- Strong background in soil and rock logging, borehole investigations, and instrumentation systems.
- Experience supervising field installations, testing, and monitoring programs.
- Excellent technical reporting, communication, and leadership skills.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (Required during tenure).
Bonus Points
- Additional licensure in NY/NJ (mandatory) or other states
- Background in inspection disciplines (geotechnical, concrete, asphalt, coatings, etc.)
- Familiarity with Primavera, HCSS, or project controls software
Salary Range: $125K - $180K annually. This range is based on national market data and may vary widely by experience and location.
