Job Description

The Forensic Wildland Fire Investigator is responsible for determining the origin, cause, and development of wildland fires through detailed on-scene investigations and forensic analysis. This role combines field-based fire scene examination with scientific and technical.

Core Responsibilities

• Fire Scene Investigation:
• Respond to wildland and interface fires to conduct systematic origin and cause determinations.
• Apply accepted methodologies (e.g., NFPA 921 and 1033 standards) for scene documentation, evidence collection, and analysis.
• Identify ignition sources, fire spread patterns, fuel conditions, and weather influences.
• Forensic Analysis & Documentation:
• Conduct laboratory or field analyses of physical evidence related to ignition and fire behavior.
• Prepare comprehensive written investigative reports, diagrams, and digital imagery.
• Maintain accurate evidence custody and documentation.
• Legal & Expert Testimony:
• Testify as an expert witness in court proceedings and administrative hearings.
•  Present clear, scientifically supported findings to attorneys and juries.

Pay Range

·        $80,000 to $120,000 base pay.
