Electrical CAD Design Engineer

About the Opportunity
A leading manufacturer is seeking an Electrical CAD Design Engineer to join its engineering team supporting advanced industrial equipment and power systems. This individual will play a key role in the design and documentation of electrical control panels, wiring harnesses, and cable routing for new product development.
This position is ideal for an engineer with several years of electrical design experience who enjoys creating detailed CAD models while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical control panels, wiring harnesses, cable routing, and electrical assemblies using AutoCAD Electrical and Creo.
- Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support manufacturing and product development.
- Develop electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Support engineering change requests by updating design documentation and CAD models.
- Collaborate with mechanical, controls, manufacturing, and project engineering teams throughout product development.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems during prototype builds and testing, including AC/DC electrical connections.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable UL, CE, IEC, and industry standards.
- Maintain engineering documentation and revision control within a PDM/PLM environment.
- Assist in developing technical documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing support documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-5 years of electrical design experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong experience with PTC Creo (Creo Cabling/Harness experience is highly preferred).
- Experience designing electrical control panels, wiring harnesses, and cable routing.
- Ability to develop both 2D drawings and 3D electrical models.
- Experience creating electrical schematics and manufacturing documentation.
- Working knowledge of UL, CE, NFPA, or IEC electrical standards.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and validating designs.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional engineering teams.
