CNC Machinist ( 6 month Contract-to-Hire) - 1st shiftHours: 6am - 2:30 p.m.Location: Elk Grove Village, ILIndustry: Custom Machinery for Heating Product ManufacturingJob Summary:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer/Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components for industrial machinery. This role requires collaboration with engineering and production teams to optimize processes, ensure quality, and suggest improvements. Occasional work on manual milling machines or lathes may be required when more efficient than CNC operations. Manual milling and lathe experience are a plus, but the primary focus is on CNC operation and programming.Key Responsibilities:Set up and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision parts.Develop, edit, and maintain CNC programs (G-code).Read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings.Utilize precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure parts meet exact specifications.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes.Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and safe work environment.Occasionally work on manual milling machines or lathes for efficiency.Qualifications:3–5 years of experience setting up, operating, and programming CNC milling machines (lathe-only candidates not considered).Proficient in reading technical blueprints and drawings.Skilled in using precision measurement tools.Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.Reliable, proactive, and able to work autonomously in a small team environment.Manual milling and lathe experience are a plus, but not mandatory.CNC schooling or certification is a plus.Hours:1st shift: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with two 10-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch.Additional Information:Contract-to-hire (6 months or 3 months with conversion pending).Rare overtime; standard 40-hour workweek.Standard background and drug screening required.Ideal Candidate Traits:Self-starter who thrives in an autonomous, small-team environment.Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and precision.Strong communicator and collaborative mindset.Affinity for process improvement and continuous learning.
