Position: Vetting Investigator
Aegis seeks to hire a skilled and energetic Vetting Investigator with a focus on “Know Your Partner” (KYP) diligence. The position requires business awareness, general legal knowledge, and the drive to uncover behaviors and relationships within companies and their leadership which indicate a history of or future potential toward poor integrity.
Job Summary
This position reports directly to a Senior or Lead Vetting Investigator and is based in Aegis Mobile’s Mobile, AL office, with the potential for hybrid work. The Vetting Investigator is responsible for performing multiple background investigations daily as part of monitoring and augmenting the results of systems that perform automated background investigations. The Vetting Investigator is responsible for assessing the results of automated investigations, identifying edge cases, researching, validating, and collecting information about the companies and individuals involved, recommending updates and corrections, and implementing final decisions in the system of record. The Vetting Investigator must develop an in-depth understanding of the actions, activities, behavior and relationships of the subject organization and related individuals and companies, using advanced online research tools, resources, and information gathering techniques to uncover obscure knowledge and hidden relationships. The Vetting Investigator is responsible for analyzing captured information, synthesizing it into a cohesive case story, applying the appropriate scoring rules, and ensuring a defensible evidentiary record is assembled that supports the investigative results.
Responsibilities
· Verify background information and examine company records
· Provide detailed, accurate and timely assessments and update recommendations
· Recognize and discover innovative forms and indicators of undesirable, unethical and criminal behavior in relation to a range of business engagements
· Recognize and discover relationships between individuals and businesses
· Discover new forms and techniques used to commit fraud and other violations relevant to specific Aegis customer markets
· Form logical case hypotheses and validate using investigative resources
· Summarize, interpret, and apply legal documents
· Effectively communicate the essential elements and relationships of a case
· Adapt quickly to changing job requirements, responsibilities and learning opportunities
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
· Proficiency in internet research
· Ability to quickly assimilate and analyze information, synthesize it into a cohesive and logical story, and communicate the results effectively
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work effectively in a tightly integrated team environment
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
· General experience and proficiency in working with software systems and data
· General understanding of business structure, operations, finances, and legal matters
· 1–3 years of background investigation experience; corporate-focused investigations and/or legal review experience is a plus
· High capacity for multitasking and workload management
· High school diploma (minimum)
Qualifications
· Four-year Baccalaureate degree is preferred
· Self-motivated, creative, and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time critical problems
· Highly effective working in a collaborative team environment
· Customer service oriented
