Position Summary
The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and repairing ammonia industrial refrigeration systems to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems
- Monitor and record daily refrigeration system performance
- Conduct visual inspections of freezers, coolers, evaporators, fans, ice buildup, and drains
- Adjust compressor pressures and temperatures as needed
- Monitor ammonia levels in accumulators and high-pressure vessels
- Follow lockout/tagout and all safety procedures
- Perform other related duties as required
Basic Qualifications
- 18 years or older; authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ammonia Refrigeration Certification
- 1 year of industrial maintenance experience
- Welding experience
- Ability to read blueprints and use hand, power, and precision measuring tools
- Ability to work in varied environments (hot, cold, wet, humid, elevated areas)
- Ability to work overtime and extended hours as production requires
- Ability to complete required safety and food compliance training (SQF, GMP, HACCP, SOPs, Food Defense)
Preferred Qualifications
- Refrigeration or maintenance experience in a USDA-inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility
- Consistent work history within the past 12 months

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work safely, wear PPE, and follow all safety and food quality standards
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must provide own basic tools
