Green, WI Other
POSTED ON 10/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/23/2026
CNC Laser Systems Field Service Specialist

Location: Wisconsin / Lakes Region

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Regional Travel

Pay: $25–$36/hr depending on experience

Overtime: 5–15 hours/week (optional)

Employment: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

A week in this role

Monday morning, you receive your weekly schedule and head straight to your first customer—one of 2–3 sites you’ll typically visit each week. You might start by assisting a senior engineer with commissioning a new CNC laser system, walk the line with maintenance to perform preventative checks, then close the day by documenting work performed and briefing the customer on next steps. Midweek, you could diagnose a motor drive issue or trace a sensor fault across controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics. By Friday afternoon, you’re wrapping up an install, updating service notes, and heading home for the weekend.

Why this role stands out
  • Entry-friendly path with hands-on mentorship and extensive training
  • ~6-month ramp: start with PM and installs, grow into advanced troubleshooting
  • Work on premium CNC, laser, automation, and machine-tool platforms
  • Customer-facing work that builds both technical and communication skills
  • Clear pathways into leadership, technical support, sales, and account management
  • Join a respected global manufacturer with deep industry roots
  • Collaborate with seasoned technicians invested in your development
  • Monday–Friday rhythm; weekends typically optional and spent at home
  • Home every weekend—even after longer installations
What you’ll handle
  • Install and commission new CNC machinery at customer sites
  • Perform preventative maintenance on industrial equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across machine systems
  • Diagnose problems involving motors, sensors, controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Progress from routine service to complex repair and troubleshooting calls
  • Communicate directly with customers throughout service visits
  • Document issues, repairs, and completed work clearly
  • Partner with senior Field Service Engineers to accelerate your learning

Most weeks involve approximately 2–3 customer sites, with travel planned strategically whenever possible.

Training & early ramp

Start with ~1 week of orientation and 1–2 weeks of technical training at the company’s Midwest facility. You’ll then pair in the field with experienced engineers. Your first several months emphasize:

  • Preventative maintenance
  • Machine installations
  • Learning the company’s equipment
  • Understanding machine controls and systems
  • Building core troubleshooting skills

As you grow, you’ll take on progressively advanced repairs and diagnostics.

What you bring Required
  • Technical certificate, Associate's degree, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Background in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Automation, CNC/Machining, Mechanical Technology, or related field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and curiosity for how machines work
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Clear communication and solid customer-service mindset
  • Ability to produce thorough technical documentation
  • Willingness to travel Monday–Friday across the region
  • Comfort working independently while representing the company on-site
Preferred
  • Field Service or Industrial Maintenance experience
  • CNC equipment exposure
  • Experience operating, maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting machine tools
  • Background with lasers, press brakes, tube processing, automation, or other industrial machinery
  • Knowledge of 3-phase power, 480V systems, motors, sensors, controls, hydraulics, or pneumatics
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical equipment

Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply—technical foundation and mechanical aptitude matter most.

This is a Monday–Friday regional travel role with technicians returning home for the weekend. Travel may include:

  • Personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement for shorter trips
  • Rental vehicles for longer drives
