Xtreme Powerline Construction Inc. is a leading Michigan-based electrical distribution utility contractor, recognized for delivering innovative and reliable infrastructure solutions. We partner with Aecon Utilities Inc. to provide large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction services across the U.S. and Canada. Our offerings include substations, battery energy storage facilities, power line installations, and integration into power grids.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for overhead and underground distribution projects. This role supports the full estimating lifecycle, including quantity take-offs, vendor pricing, and bid submissions, while collaborating closely with operations and project teams.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for overhead and underground distribution projects. This role supports the full estimating lifecycle, including quantity take-offs, vendor pricing, and bid submissions, while collaborating closely with operations and project teams.
What You'll Do Here
- Support the preparation of detailed cost estimates for overhead and underground electrical distribution projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and addendums to develop accurate pricing
- Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings and contract documents
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Assist in compiling total project costs including labour, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracted work
- Participate in job site visits and pre-bid meetings as required
- Collaborate with Operations, Project Management, and clients to validate scope and assumptions
- Assist with scope change pricing and estimate revisions
- Maintain organized estimating files, documentation, and historical data
- Support bid submissions, RFQs, RFIs, and prequalification packages
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools
- Participate in bid handover meetings to ensure alignment with project teams
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with Aecon’s safety standards and risk management procedures
- Perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy
- Promote an inclusive and collaborative team culture
- Diploma or Degree in Civil, Electrical, Construction Management, or a related field
- 3–7 years of estimating experience, preferably in overhead and underground distribution
- Knowledge of utility construction methods, materials, and labour requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Experience performing quantity take-offs and preparing detailed estimates
- Understanding of subcontracting, procurement, and cost structures
- Familiarity with estimating software and strong proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Prior field or operations experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of labour agreements and utility standards is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed
