Position
The Buyer is responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products that align with company objectives, customer demand, and market trends. This role involves negotiating with vendors, managing inventory, analyzing sales performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize product offerings and profitability. The Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring the company secures the best possible pricing, quality, and delivery terms from suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet business goals.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to maximize profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with demand planners to ensure stock availability.
- Analyze sales trends and customer preferences to make data-driven purchasing decisions.
- Manage purchase orders, track shipments, and resolve any supply chain disruptions.
- Work closely with merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to align product selection with company strategies.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and explore opportunities for new supplier partnerships.
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging products, and competitive landscape.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in sales and inventory data analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; experience with ERP or procurement software is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry trends and supplier management best practices.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; or proven years of relevant experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or merchandising.
