Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues for AE2S external clients, including servers, hardware, firewalls, software, and network performance.
- Implement, monitor, and maintain security measures to protect infrastructure from evolving threats.
- Perform regular system maintenance, manage backups and disaster recovery plans, and ensure optimal uptime through proactive updates and patches.
- Partner with the IT Infrastructure and Security Manager to evaluate and recommend servers, software, and firewall solutions for clients.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain quotes, evaluate options, and procure approved IT equipment and components for client projects.
- Assemble, configure, and deploy servers in coordination with AE2S’s internal Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) team.
- Work closely with Project Managers to define project scopes, design solutions, and deliver high-quality results.
- Create clear, detailed documentation outlining resolutions, configurations, and technical processes.
- Travel to client sites as needed to serve as a hands-on technical resource and trusted partner.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
- 8 years of experience in an IT role, with at least 5 years focused on network administration, server management, or firewall administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges.
- Exceptional communication, organization, and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and client needs effectively.
- Strong understanding of IT security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus systems, intrusion detection, and monitoring solutions.
- Ability to travel, including occasional overnight trips.
- Must be able to complete all pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record verification, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Comprehensive understanding of Fortinet firewalls, with the ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- CompTIA A , Network , or Security certifications, or equivalent industry credentials.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Cloud Security platforms and best practices for managing secure cloud environments.
- Proficiency with multiple server platforms, including virtualization, configuration, design, and management.
- Familiarity with operational technology (OT) systems and industrial network environments, including control systems, industrial switching, and infrastructure security.
- Understanding of remote telemetry communication protocols such as Radio, MQTT, and Cellular.
- Experience working with or supporting SCADA systems, PLC networks, or other industrial control technologies is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they apply to operational technology (OT) and IT systems, with the ability to bridge both disciplines.
- Primary functions require physical ability and sufficient mobility to work in an office setting
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
- Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement
- Fine coordination including the use of a computer keyboard
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
- May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
