At Adyen security is paramount. That's why we're building a new Software Security Engineering team dedicated to empowering our product developers. This team will own mission-critical, security-first frameworks and products, making it straightforward and efficient for our teams to build inherently secure and compliant financial technology on the Adyen platform. You and your team will be responsible for the execution of the Security engineering roadmap and vision. All Adyen engineers will use the frameworks your team builds and maintains- a great opportunity to make an impact on the Adyen platform.

This role is based out of our Chicago office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.
This is a full time position and does require working the occasional holiday and/or weekend to ensure business continuity.

What You'll Do
- Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line.
- Lead complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launching into production.
- Be a builder and advisor; contribute to the implementation of our engineering solutions and offer technical guidance/mentorship to other engineers.
- Identify and improve parts of our platform to make it more robust and scalable.
- Build engineering features and solutions with scalability and availability at the forefront.
- We launch fast and iterate often. Within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers.
- You have between 3-8 years of professional experience as an engineer and are currently working as a Software Engineer or at a similar level, with strong, object-oriented design and coding skills in Java.
- You have a demonstrable passion for security. Experience in security engineering (e.g. the building of input validation frameworks; file upload frameworks; rate limiting standards) is preferred.
- You have a strong sense of ownership, helping you move projects forward independently and make a meaningful impact.
- You have great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders.
- You are familiar with complex and large scale distributed systems.
- You are flexible, a team player and someone with an eye for detail.
- You are experienced in leading technical projects in a fast paced environment.
- Open to some domestic and international travel.
