Peer Support Specialist - Outreach

Job description:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Peer Specialist to serve as a frontline support professional for individuals and families navigating housing instability, mental health challenges, and substance use barriers. This role is hands‑on, community‑based, and focused on stabilizing participants through consistent engagement, advocacy, harm‑reduction practices, and resource coordination.

What You’ll Do

• Provide direct on‑site support to individuals and families (full‑time outreach presence).
• Assist with immediate needs such as crisis support, food access, and resource navigation.
• Collaborate closely with case managers and clinicians to support mental health, SUD, and housing goals.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to care planning.
• Maintain clear, accurate documentation in a HIPAA‑compliant client management system.
• Support participants through a trauma‑informed, harm‑reduction, client‑choice approach at all times.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Washington State Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) or ability to become certified.
• CCAR Certified Recovery Coach (or ability to obtain).
• CPR and Narcan certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast‑paced, community‑based environments.

Preferred:

• Experience providing outreach, case management, or stabilization services.
• Experience supporting families navigating complex social or housing barriers.
• Ability to work collaboratively with schools, service providers, and community agencies.
