Direct Support Professional (Afternoon Position) - Jamesville, NY

Advocates is looking for a dependable and compassionate Mentor to work with a man that lives in his own home. The Mentor’s responsibility will be to promote independence by assisting him with cleaning, grocery shopping, and community involvement.  The ideal candidate will have leadership skills, effective communication skills, patience, and must be reliable. 

Hours and days of work  

Part Time, 3:30p-7:30pm (Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons)   

Pay rate: $26.50 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour. 

Location: Jamesville, NY 

Reliable transportation is required. Background check, fingerprinting, and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by non-profit agency. Please respond with resume or summary of experience.

• Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred.
• Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.
• Other: The individual does not have the authority to set the staff salary in this model. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
