Job Description Summary:

Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify.
  • Phlebotomy skills are preferred.

What You’ll Do:

Schedule: Monday – Friday.  Scheduled hours are between 7am- 6pm depending upon clinic needs.

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. 

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Our primary care physicians at Aurora Internal Medicine & Family Medicine (2801 W. Kinnickinnic River Pkwy., Suite 170/175, Milwaukee, WI) provide high-quality, personalized care. Primary care is the first point of contact in health care, and family medicine physicians care for the entire family through comprehensive preventive care, such as annual physical exams and vaccinations as well as being well trained in the diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses and chronic diseases or can refer you to specialists if needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance.  For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
  • Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by- case basis.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.
  • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids.  Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. 
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
