Job Description
Major Responsibilities:
- Assembles patient and mobile meal trays in accordance with approved diet guidelines, portion control, and productivity standards while incorporating diet changes, admissions, transfers, and special diet orders.
- Coordinates food tray assembly and delivery, including late trays, supplements, tube feedings, and nourishment requests; ensures accuracy of all patient-specific dietary needs.
- Delivers patient trays and stocks nursing units, while also obtaining meal selections via room service phone and verifying diet orders using established procedures.
- Prepares snacks, beverages, sandwiches, and other food items in accordance with standardized recipes, as well as printing and verifying tube feeding and nourishment labels.
- Serves customers in cafeteria and retail areas, operates the cash register, handles cash transactions, and maintains accurate daily reports and balance sheets.
- Maintains and updates patient diet information, food allergies, preferences, supplements, and nutrition-related documentation in department systems/files.
- Performs cleaning duties in kitchen, cafeteria, and dish room areas, ensuring compliance with sanitation and infection control standards.
- Assists with catering, special events, and promotions by supporting setup, food preparation, presentation, and cleanup activities.
- Monitors food temperatures and follows established food safety procedures to prevent foodborne illness and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepares reports related to meal counts, missed meals, production, and inventory; maintains department files and communicates supply needs to leadership.
- Supports department operations by answering questions related to dietary procedures, menu guidelines, isolation protocols, and modified diets.
Schedule:
Schedule may vary based on department needs; includes rotating weekends, holidays, and shift variations (AM/PM). Specific shift details will be provided by the hiring manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office or similar systems).
- Good organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to stand and walk the majority of the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. (Food Service tasks) and 20 lbs. occasionally (clerical tasks).
- Exposure to kitchen environment (heat, equipment, cleaning agents) and office environment.
- May be required to enter patient isolation rooms with appropriate protective equipment.
- Uses equipment such as dish machines, tray lines, and other food service tools.
