Major Responsibilities:
- In coordination with ACL protocol, reviews current policies and procedures. Writes technical procedures and policies utilizing ACL standard format. Monitors and documents policies in policy management program (Policy Tech)
- Routinely performs clinical testing as part of daily responsibilities. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Performs moderately and/or highly complex analyses with accuracy and precision. Utilizes theory and principles of clinical methodology throughout the process.
- Reviews manufacturer's inserts. Revises written procedures as needed to reflect all changes. Reviews preventive maintenance schedules, records daily for all assigned equipment. Initiates corrective measures when needed. Troubleshoots instruments. Makes minor repairs/adjustments within scope of manufacturers' guidelines. Initiates service calls to restore full operation. Review and file instrument repairs records. Validates when troubleshooting efforts are completed by other associates on the team
- Participates in administration of competency testing program. Trains new associates and training students. Maintains training checklists.
- Maintains knowledge of developments within field of responsibility. Advances technical ideas for study and consideration.
- Promptly investigates all referred client service inquiries. Completes, returns findings within 24 hours of inquiry receipt.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor degree and graduation from a Medical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an equivalent program, in a science related field, or documented equivalent education and training (ie MLT with 5 years of laboratory experience in Accrediting Organization, CAP, or any other lab accrediting agency). Two (02) years clinical laboratory experience as a working laboratory professional. Experience as a senior technologist and/or instrument key operation preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Position involves moderate and/or high complexity testing as defined by CLIA '88. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of computers with basic understanding of word processing and spreadsheets. Thorough knowledge of statistics and ability to apply statistical rules/analysis to laboratory decision-making processes. Proven ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks.
- Hires before April 2018: MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), MT(AMT) with baccalaureate degree. ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) categorical certification (BB, C, H, I, M) or a baccalaureate degree where categorical certification in specialty area is not available. Hires after April 2018, MB (ASCP) certification within 12 months of hire.
