Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Stroke Unit - Nights
About the Job:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiac Stroke Unit team at Advocate Aurora Health. As an RN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the unit's mission of providing exceptional care to patients with cardiac and neurological disorders.
Responsibilities:
- Use the nursing process to assess the needs of patients, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care.
- Anticipate and recognize significant changes in patients' conditions, status, and need for care, and take appropriate actions when changes occur.
- Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety, and assess patient and family readiness to learn and individualize the approach as necessary.
- Actively coordinate discharge plans utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, apply evidence-based practice to deliver patient care, and consistently incorporate nursing and regulatory standards of care into practice.
- Promote a culture of safety through identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent patient harm, and report patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner.
- Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications, participate in quality/process improvement initiatives, and contribute to personal professional development and the development of others.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required.
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing; new graduates welcomed with starting wage up to $35.90 for inpatient units.
- Demonstrated progression to provide holistic patient care and ability to view clinical situations from a patient and family focus.
- Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.

Work Environment:
This is a full-time night shift position in Cudahy, WI, working 36 hours per week. The Cardiac Stroke Unit has 28 beds and provides care to patients with cardiac and neurological disorders.
